Sustainability Quality Authenticity
Ethics are our priority
Awareness of the issues in today's fashion-industry is spreading, and many want to make better choices. This explains the comeback of thrifting, which is a great way to dress more sustainably. Unfortunately many find the sustainable alternatives to new clothing boring, over-expensive and unaesthetic. And this is a huge deal-breaker for a generation that values self-expression through style.
This is the challenge we've take on, creating versatile and timeless wardrobe staples to replace your old fast-fashion one's.
The following commitments serve as guidelines for our entire concept and production process.
Respecting our planet We produce responsibly, minimize environmental impact, and design garments made to last—not to be replaced.
Working in ethical conditions Because we refuse to prioritize profit over people.
Preserving local production By choosing LARS, you support French artisanal production, preserving rare craftsmanship and traditional techniques.
Protecting your health We select safe materials which are certified by Standard Oeko-tex 100. {read more}
Made in France
Our Atelier is established in the heart of the French region "Les Cévennes", located in the southern inland of France. The landscape of this region is of strong character thanks to its edgy mountains and untouched nature. To work in such proximity with wilderness establishes an innate respect and acknowledgment for the balance of the ecosystem, and our role in it.
We produce according to the traditional methods of the region. This inheritance of knowledge passed on from generation to generation, we call in French: savoir-faire. The savoir-faire of textile manufacturing is specific to this region because of its historical importance.
Back in the time, Les Cévennes was a center of French textile production, covering a wide range of materials. Unfortunately, as for most of our European craftsmanship, the small producers of the region has been unfairly out-concurred by the fast-fashion giants. Quality and ethics are no longer the priority in the fashion-industry, and only effectiveness and quantity seems to matter. Sadly, much of our inheritance surrounding textile and know-how has gone lost since the previous generation. Luckily, some has been preserved thanks to the small-scale manufacturers in the area.
Certified Materials
The fabric of our clothes is knitted in France out of threads imported from Italy, from the Italian company FILMAR. They produce in alignment with the core values of LARS and provide a very complete traceability of their materials. The cotton of the threads is cultivated in several countries, but mainly in Egypt because of their superior quality. Egyptian cotton is often considered the best in the world because of its strong fibers and delicacy. FILMAR offer certified threads in different labels depending on the thickness of the thread. Amongst the labels that are offer in the different counts, we find the certification OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, Biofil, GOTS and BCI. Our first collection is holds five certifications among which we wind OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. Naturally we aim to enlarge our collection with garments certified with ulterior labels.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 guaranties the absence of toxic residues in the garments. The threads have been tested and approved, so that you as a costumer can feel safe using our clothes, knowing you aren't exposing yourself to harmful chemicals.
